About Us

Our Story:

In 2007, our then 3 year old son, Trevor, was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, a rare children’s cancer.  We spent the next eight of twelve months in 2008 in local hospitals.  Although the medical care was wonderful, we noticed that there was not a lot of attention paid to making an environment that catered to the needs of the children and their families.  In addition we realized that there were hundreds of families just like ours that required in their treatment for other cancers or rare blood diseases hospitalization for extended periods.

Throughout our time in hospitals, we watched as toy drives were conducted during the holidays and throughout the year by many San Diego businesses and radio stations aimed at providing toys to certain organizations.  And we wondered if people knew that there were other kids and families  in hospitals across San Diego County who were also fighting diseases that weren't supported and who weren't a part of those toy drives or fan fares.

As a result, Trevor's Toybox was formed.  It is our goal to insure that no child goes unnoticed.  We want to make sure that every child who is required to receive care, get the attention and love of their community, of their neighbors in providing them environments that promote good health.  Through providing games, toys, stuffed animals, and craft kits, we provide the children and the medical staff a distraction.  These items will go a long way to helping the staff and families to keep the hopes of their children alive in that they are not focused on the horrible treatments, but in the activities provided.
